A shoe repair shop opens in Wahpeton, ND moves into tarp repair and then new tarps.

Growing tarp demand results in the creation of Wahpeton Canvas Company (WCCO) – and more new products.

The Original Shur-Lok® roll tarp is born – no more climbing on trucks and trailers to tarp and protect products! The simple, yet reliable invention revolutionizes the tarp industry.

The truck cover division of the company splits off from WCCO and relocates to Yankton, SD.

A name change to Shur-Co® more closely identifies the company with the Shur-Lok®, its best-known product.

Shur-Co® enters the auto accessories field with its TruXedo® tonneau cover line (later spun off as its own company under new ownership in 2007).

Acquisition is made of a highly automated metal fabrications operation, giving Shur-Co® unmatched capabilities in the tarp industry.

Shur-Co® is named South Dakota’s Family Business of the Year.

Shur-Co® moves into trailer automation with the launch of the 3500 Series electric upgrade for the Shur-Lok®. Much like Shur-Lok’s intro over 25 years ago, the 3500 is unlike anything else on the market, completely revolutionizing the electric tarping industry.

State-of-the-art expansion allows Shur-Co® to keep up with increasing product demand, bringing the company’s total manufacturing area to 150,000 square feet.

The ProTrap® electric hopper opener and the industry’s first five-channel SMARTransmitter® are launched, the perfect complement to the 3500 Series, giving customers a complete SMARTrailer™ line of products.

An important milestone, Shur-Co®, LLC is formed with the existing management team and sparks unprecedented growth and global market expansion.

Shur-Co®, LLC is formed under new ownership.

More products are added to the Shur-Co® line: exclusive SMART2™ and SMART1+™ remotes, 4500 Series HD electric tarp, LiteALL™ LED work light packages, DuraPull™ semi-auto pull tarp and IronSide™ side dump tarp system. Later that year, Shur-Co®, LLC acquires Donovan Enterprises, a top name in construction and waste container tarp systems, with locations in Michigan, Florida and the UK, positioning itself for global growth.

Shur-Co® acquires Roll-Tite™, integrating the product line into the company’s Flatbed division, re-branding it as ShurTite™ – an industry-leading retractable tarp system for flatbed trailers, drop deck trailers, straight trucks and specialty vehicles.

Global expansion continues as Shur-Co® now sells products to over 30 countries on six continents every year.

Growth continues apace for Shur-Co®, LLC. A new branch dedicated to ShurTite™ installs and repairs is opened in Sioux Falls, SD. The Shur-Co® of ND branch moves into a new 24,000 square foot facility in West Fargo, allowing for increased installation capabilities and better product distribution. And, finally, the Shur-Co® of IL branch, having outgrown its previous location, relocates to a new 16,000 square foot facility in Decatur, where it adds ShurTite™ installations to its already busy shop activities.

Shur-Co® celebrates 25 years in the Yankton, South Dakota community.

Shur-Co® acquires Ruff'n Tuff Tarps in Caldwell, Idaho. Re-branding the Caldwell location Shur-Co® of Idaho gives Shur-Co® a corporate presence in the Pacific Northwest of the United States allowing for better sales and service of the region.
